Hudson ‘John Henry’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2009

31-Aug-2012
The Hudson Vineyard is situated approx. 8 km south of Martinborough on the road to Lake Ferry. There, Peter Hudson and his family established vines on their 6.5 ha block, planting Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in 2003, and Riesling the following year. The site is historical, the vineyard on the soils of ‘Wharekaka', New Zealand's first sheep station of 1844. The Hudson wines are gaining in repute, with all varieties showing well in judgings, the Riesling particularly successful lately. Here is the new release 2009 Pinot Noir, named as a tribute to Peter Hudson's father, made by Mort Andrerson of Tiwaiwaka, and Mike Finucane and Roz Walker of Alexander Vineyard. www.hudsonwine.co.nz
