Hunter’s Marlborough 2014 Chardonnay and 2013 Pinot Noir

12-Jun-2015
Hunter’s has an enviable pedigree as one of Marlborough’s pioneers. Established in 1979 the company remains in family ownership led by Jane Hunter with her brother-in-law Peter Macdonald as general manager. Although the Marlborough vignoble has grown enormously since then, the stability that Hunter’s has emanated has given much credibility to the region throughout the growth period. Gary Duke recently announced his retirement from the chief winemaker role, leaving Inus van der Westhuizen and James Macdonald to continue the making of classical Marlborough wine that offers very good quality and value at the premium level. The recent releases I’ve tasted show the company has not skipped a beat. Here I review the new 2014 Chardonnay and 2013 Pinot Noir, to be released soon. www.hunters.co.nz
