Jackson Estate Jumps Up a Level at 21 Years Old

09-Nov-2011
Celebrating 21 years, John and Jo Stitchbury have seen enormous changes in Marlborough and the New Zealand wine industry since they established Jackson Estate in 1991. Through good and difficult times the Jackson Estate label has held firm, but I sense that the continued efforts with Geoff Woollcombe as viticulturist and Mike Paterson as winemaker has enabled the brand to move up a level in the quality of the wines. The Stitchbury's have a tight and focussed operation geared at the highest quality levels across the four core varietals of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling from five vineards – ‘Grey Ghost', ‘Stonewall', ‘Blue Hills', ‘Somerset' and ‘Gum Emperor', and there are the occasional single-vineyard' releases expressing individuality. A pair of Spring Releases confirms the class of the wines. www.jacksonestate.co.nz
