Johanneshof Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

09-Oct-2014
With over 20 years of winegrowing and winemaking in Marlborough, Warwick Foley and Edel Everling of Johanneshof Cellars are part of the fabric of the industry. Best known for the aromatic varietal wines, Johanneshof Cellars has a flair and individuality that adds much to the diversity of the region. The home ‘Maybern’ hillside vineyard which is planted to Pinot Noir, the winery and cellar door are at Koromiko, between Blenheim and Picton. Visiting the underground cellar is a unique experience. The fruit for most of their wines comes from a number of long-term contract growers in the Wairau Valley, and this has enabled a broader range of styles to be made than if they were confined to one site or sub-region. Here, I review the new release 2014 Sauvignon Blanc which explores a more fruit-oriented style than some of the oak and Semillon-influenced versions in the past. www.johanneshof.co.nz
