Julicher ’99 Rows’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2012

18-Jun-2014
Although Julicher Estate has a range of varieties in their 20 ha vineyard on Te Muna Road in Martinborough, owners Wim Julicher and Sue Darling, and their winemaker Outi Jakovirta are unashamedly focussed on Pinot Noir. The number of top awards for their premium ‘estate’ wine and second tier ’99 Rows’ Pinot Noirs from the inaugural release in 2002 puts them amidst the most successful in the district, giving nothing away to their high profile neighbours such as Escarpment Vineyard and Craggy Range. The ’99 Rows’ Pinot Noir can be regarded as very good value Martinborough Pinot Noir, and it has a reputation as one that offers earlier accessibility and enjoyment. Here is my review of the 2012 wine. www.julicher.co.nz
