Kidnapper Cliffs Chardonnay 2009

28-Nov-2011
It is extremely interesting to see the path taken by Kidnapper Cliffs with their Chardonnay wines, and indeed whites in general. Ant Mackenzie believes that leaner, more minerally and tightly structured styles have a better ability to age well, and the wines are made in that way. Obviously for reds it is the "right type of tannin” that is crucial, and the Kidnapper Cliffs reds are different from the norm with their minimal post fermentation maceration. Having recently reviewed the 2010 vintage Kidnapper Cliffs releases recently (click here to see), I had the opportunity of looking at the 2009 Chardonnay to see how the style held up in a warmer vintage. www.kidnappercliffs.com
