Kingsmill – Bannockburn and Bendigo

05-Mar-2012
Established in 2000, Kingsmill is a small operation owned by Phillip Horn and Donna Abrams, who purchased a site above the Bannockburn sluicings, and planted 12,000 Pinot Noir vines, 60% to Dijon clones and 40% to older clones for diversity. The vineyard and Pinot Noir wine are named after the ‘Tippet's Dam' originally sited next door. The dam supplied water to the face of the sluicings and was thus essential for gold mining. Kingsmill source Riesling fruit from a site in Bendigo, and the wine is named ‘Tippet's Race'. The current releases are reviewed here. www.kingsmillwines.co.nz
