Kingsmill ‘Tippet’s Dam’ Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2013

14-Apr-2015
The Kingsmill boutique Central Otago label of Philip Horn and Donna Abrams has been the source of some excellent wines, especially Pinot Noir since the inaugural 2006 vintage release. It’s a reflection of the special nature of the small site on top of an old alluvial terrace above the historic Bannockburn sluicings. Planted in 2000, there are 12,000 vines across six different clones on Ardgaur, Hawksburn and Felton soils and variants. Winemaking is by Malcolm Rees-Francis of Rockburn, who sees distinctive a distinctive terroir and potential top quality which he aims to capture. Here, I review the new 2013 release. www.kingsmillwines.co.nz
