La Celia ‘Pioneer’ ‘Reserva’ Malbec 2012

31-Oct-2014
The Finca La Celia estate was established in 1890 and is named after founder Eugenio Bustos' daughter who ran it successfully for nearly 50 years. It is a modern player, acquired in 2000 by Chilean industry giant San Pedro who has invested heavily in it. With 600 ha of vineyards, the Uco Valley Malbec is the star performer. The winemaking is headed by Cristian Garcia and Manuel Bianchi the vineyard manager. The ‘Pioneer’ range credits Eugenio Bustos’ pioneering winegrowing role in the Uco Valley. www.fincalacelia.com.ar Here, I review the new release 2012 ‘Pioneer’ Malbec, from a later ripening vintage which has produced elegant and successful examples from that variety. The Finca La Celia wines are imported and distributed by South2South www.south2south.com
