La Consulta 2013 Cabernet and La Celia Malbec, and 2011 Montechez LE Malbec and Alma de Luna

05-May-2015
Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from Argentina offers the New Zealand wine consumer a world of difference in wine drinking. This fact is not lost on Josefina Telleria and Chris Emmett of ‘South2South’ wine importers who bring wines from one part of the southern hemisphere to another. One of the star brands South2South works with is ‘Finca La Celia’, established in 1890, owning around 600 ha of vines in the Uco Valley, the company now owned by the San Pedro Chilean giant. www.fincalacelia.com.ar Another is ‘Montechez Fincas y Bodegas’, a relatively new company, established in 2005, with three sites in Mendoza. Jose’s family is directly involved in this company. www.montechez.com Here, I review 2013 bottlings of a La Consulta Cabernet and La Celia Malbec, and 2011 bottlings of the Montechez ‘Limited Edition’ Malbec and flagship ‘Alma de Luna’. www.south2south.com
