Leveret Estate 2013 Reserve Releases

23-Oct-2014
Leveret Estate is the reincarnation of the premium wine brand of John Coney of The Wine Portfolio, and a descendant of the ‘Coniglio’ label that took New Zealand Chardonnay into the super-premium level. Having sold the ‘Morton Estate’ brand, John Coney has ‘Leveret Estate’ heading a full range of tiers including the also new ‘Falconhead’ wines and already established ‘Nikau Point’, ‘Mill Road’, ‘Southern Dawn’, ‘Penny Lane’, ‘Southern Cross’ and ‘Cathedral Cove’ bottlings, plus the specialised ‘Mimi’ and ‘IQ’ sparklings. In August I reviewed a selection of the new ‘Falconhead’ wines (click here to see), and the ‘Leveret Estate’ wines (click here to read), and I noted that they delivered good and excellent quality for their price ranges as they were designed to do. I now review a selection of the Leveret Estate ‘Reserve’ wines. They come from the outstanding 2013 vintage, and are made to make a statement. Their release should bring considerable return attention to John Coney’s presence in the industry and The Wine Portfolio company. www.wineportfolio.co.nz
