Main Divide 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, and 2012 Merlot/Cabernet

24-Apr-2015
The Main Divide wines from Pegasus Bay can be rightly seen as their own brand. While they share many attributes of the Pegasus Bay bottlings that come from a philosophy of making flavoursome and satisfying wines of interest, they incorporate fruit grown outside the Donaldson family’s vineyards, and sometimes from fruit outside the Waipara Valley region. The wines can be seen to be a little more approachable, and they are more accessible in price. As a result, they have a wider and greater market presence, especially at the FMCG level. Here, I review three new releases, the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, and the 2012 Merlot/Cabernet blend. www.maindivide.com
