Margrain 2014 – 2012 Whites, and 2013 Pinot Noirs

11-Sep-2015
Margrain is a complete Martinborough experience, which has in addition to vineyard and winery, conference and accommodation facilities, cellar door and café. Graham and Daryl Margrain joined the second wave of Martinborough producers when they established their 4 ha vineyard in 1992. The Margrains then purchased the neighbouring Chifney vineyard expanding their resource to include old vines and in 2001 planted a new block on Dry River Road south of the village. This varied fruit enables experienced winemaker Strat Canning to make a broad and eclectic range of wines that are elegant and food-friendly, possessing the ability to keep well. Nowadays, they are among the senior producers with a very strong and consistent track record of some of the district’s top level wines. The Margrains are pleased to be able to release a number of their wines with time in bottle. Here, I review a selection of white wines from vintages 2014 to 2012, plus two 2013 vintage Pinot Noirs. www.margrainvineyard.co.nz
