Misha’s Vineyard 2012 New Releases

29-Mar-2012

From the first releases of wines from Misha's Vineyard, one could sense something special was in the air. This 57 ha site near Bendigo on the eastern hills overlooking Lake Dunstan was clearly selected to make premium wine, and this has indeed been the result. Misha and Andy Wilkinson now have 26 ha of vines, 17 ha to Pinot Noir, 3.3 ha to Pinot Gris, 2.7 ha to Riesling, 2.0 ha to Sauvignon Blanc and 1 ha to Gewurztraminer. The vines, rootstocks and soils were carefully matched with the advice of Robin Dicey and the vineyard is under the care of Rich Williams. Winemaking has been entrusted to Olly Masters, and the 11,000 case production is of elegant, fine-featured, delicate wines of great detail. It is becoming clear that the vineyard predisposes this style, and the winemaking respects it. A particular success for the Misha's operation has been the strong commitment to social media participation, and undoubtedly this has promoted sales domestically and internationally. Misha's Vineyard is regularly cited as a classic example of modern social media marketing. Here are the new releases for 2012, featuring white wines from 2011, and Pinot Noir from the 2010 and 2009 vintages. www.mishasvineyard.com
