Mission ‘Huchet’ 2013 Chardonnay and Syrah

14-Aug-2015
The Mission Estate ‘Huchet’ super-premium label was launched with a 2007 Syrah in 2011. It was the culmination of over 170 years of history with the sailing of French Missionaries to New Zealand, with Brother Cyprian Huchet from a Loire winemaking family bringing his winegrowing expertise to Hawke’s Bay in 1871. The realisation of the ‘Huchet’ label, a tribute to Mission’s cellarmaster, was a five year process, through the identification of the very best parcels of fruit through modern techniques of precision viticulture and the most careful winemaking. I reviewed the first ‘Huchet’ Syrah 2007 release (click here to see), and there has been a 2010 vintage Syrah since. Now, from the outstanding 2013 vintage, Mission has released a Chardonnay to partner the Syrah. I review the two wines here. www.huchetwine.co.nzwww.missionestate.co.nz
