Mission ‘Jewelstone’ 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011 Releases

13-Aug-2015
The ‘Jewelstone’ label of Mission Estate represents the company’s very best wines, made from fruit from the best parcels grown by viticulturist Steve Wheeler and given the utmost care in the winery by winemaker Paul Mooney. When they were first introduced to the market in the early 1990s with their near-mystical and fanciful labels, they have captured a sense of spirituality totally in keeping with the religious history of Mission Estate. Today, they continue to do the same. I note due the varied sources of the parcels, the wines are to a degree quite idiosyncratic, and made to where the fruit seems to direct vinification, elevage and style. They clearly show sensitivity to the fruit by winemaker Paul Mooney. Here, I review the current Mission ‘Jewelstone’ releases. www.missionestate.co.nz
