Moana Park 2014 Estate and SVR Viognier

13-Apr-2015
The Moana Park label of Dan and Kaylea Barker has taken a further step up in sophistication as can be seen in the new livery to be launched with the 2014 ‘Estate’ and ‘Single Vineyard Reserve’ Viognier wines. The labelling is more elegant and refined in detailing and font, as well as more striking with the name. The new labels state the intent of making "naturally grown wines free of allergy inducing additives, and pure joy to drink”, from "small estate owned vineyards dotted…around Hawke’s Bay.” It is the ‘Single Vineyard Reserve’ range that captures this philosophy best. I recently reviewed and was impressed with the 2013 ‘SVR’ Chardonnay, Merlot/Cabernet and Syrah (click here to see my reviews). Moana Park is one of the small number of producers continuing to work with Viognier. Here are my reviews of the new 2014 ‘Estate’ and ‘Single Vineyard Reserve’ Viogniers. The wines are very individual and distinctive bottlings reflecting their natural wine approach and the use of skin contact. www.moanapark.co.nz
