Mount Riley Seventeen Valley Releases

27-Aug-2013
Mount Riley is a large and significant family owned Marlborough winegrowing operation owned by the Buchanan family. Founded by John Buchanan in 1992, the company has maintained a fiercely independent approach which has enabled them to grow with strength and stability. John’s daughter Amy is the general manager and her husband Matt Murphy is the winemaker. Mount Riley operates a large winery and cellar door complex on S.H. 1 at Riverlands. Company-owned vineyard sites form the basis of the company’s premium production, and this is supplemented by contract fruit. There are four tiers of wines, starting with the ‘Estate’ range, then the ‘Limited Release’ select parcels label, the sparkling ‘Savee’ bottling, and the ‘Reserve’ styled ‘Seventeen Valley’ wines made only in the best years. Here I review the current ‘Seventeen Valley’ wines. www.mountriley.co.nz
