Mouton Cadet and Mouton Cadet ‘Reserve’ 2011

13-Nov-2013
Mouton Cadet was launched in 1930 by Baron Phiippe de Rothschild, proprietor of Ch. Mouton-Rothschild. It was a stroke of genius to incorporate the name of the great property into a more accessible wine, but this of course resulted in some scorn. Time has shown that ‘Mouton Cadet’ has become one of the most successful proprietary brands from Bordeaux, and that it has made many friends for the region across the globe. The new 2011 release of Mouton Cadet has a white label edition created by the baron’s daughter Philippine de Rothschild to pay tribute to the beginnings and the connection with the First Growth. Here, I review the wine as well as the Mouton Cadet ‘Reserve’. www.moutoncadet.com The wines are distributed by Kahurangi Estate. www.kahurangiwine.com
