Mt Difficulty 2009 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir

13-May-2011
The ‘Single Vineyard' Pinot Noir wines of Mt Difficulty rival the ‘Block' wines of Felton Road as the most highly-regarded of Central Otago. They join an elite band of superb, terroir-driven releases of Pinot Noir from New Zealand that are demanding a place alongside fine Burgundy wine. The ‘Single Vineyard' wines are only made when the character of the vineyard site can be expressed faithfully with accompanying exceptional quality. Interestingly, 2009 is the first time that all three ‘Single Vineyard' wines, the ‘Long Gully', ‘Pipeclay Terrace' and ‘Target Gully' have been released together, and that is a celebration in itself. With this release comes a new range of wines for Mt Difficulty, the ‘Growers Series', designed to exhibit the different terroirs of the sub-regions of Central Otago. Mt Difficulty is certainly growing into a state of full maturity, and showing confidence in all they do. Winemaker Matt Dicey is going from strength to strength. www.mtdifficulty.co.nz
