Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay 2010

31-Aug-2011
The release of Tim and Judy Finn's Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay is always highly anticipated. It is one of New Zealand's great wines with a fantastic pedigree stretching back a quarter of a century. The wine is a single vineyard expression, from vines planted on the hillside ‘Home Vineyard' and made with fine white burgundy in mind. Over the years, greater consistency, finesse and complexity have been built into this wine. Tim has been ably assisted in the refinement of the style with Mike Weersing, Andrew Sutherland and now John Kavanagh, who have all made significant contributions, but they would all credit the site and the fruit. Yet the progression in style towards classy white burgundy is evident, this 2010 vintage tightening the expression even further. I can't help but think of a cross between a rich Meursault and a Corton-Charlemagne with its power and steeliness! www.neudorf.co.nz
