Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay 2011

28-Aug-2012
The ‘Moutere' Chardonnay from Neudorf has been at the top of any list of the best New Zealand Chardonnay wines for nearly a quarter of a century and this remains so today. This is an even more remarkable wine these days compared to its ground-breaking and startling initial releases, as it reflects the accumulated skills of several talented winemakers overseen by Neudorf proprietor Tim Finn, the full understanding of the ‘Home Vineyard' site, and yield from fully mature Mendoza clone vines. 2011 was a superb vintage for Neudorf in making this wine, with near-perfect flowering and a warm growing season allowing an early harvest. The finesse of the ‘Nelson' Chardonnay 2011 (click here to see my review) suggested the ‘Moutere' label could be something exceptional. It truly is. Here is my review of it. www.neudorf.co.nz
