Neudorf Moutere Pinot Gris 2013

24-Jan-2014
The Moutere Pinot Gris is the first Neudorf wine release from the 2013 vintage that has come my way. The vintage is also the first one in Nelson that winemaker Todd Stevens has seen from the very beginning, having arrived there in July 2012. I wouldn’t expect much quality or stylistic change, as the Neudorf approach to the fruit and wines will be consistent, and the wine will be more an expression of vintage. Proprietor Judy Finn reports that "Todd was a little reserved about Pinot Gris initially, but is totally seduced by his first Gris off the Moutere clays”. Clearly Todd agrees with the Neudorf approach of "pursuing elegance and finesse, and resisting the trend to over-ripen”. Here, I review this wine, the production of which winemaker Todd Stevens has overseen from the start. www.neudorf.co.nz
