Neudorf Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Moutere Pinot Gris 2012 and Pinot Noir 2011

08-Mar-2013

These three wines are the first new releases I’ve seen this year from Neudorf Vineyards, my ‘Winery of the Year’ in 2012, the outstanding producer last year which submitted wines to Raymond Chan Wine Reviews for ‘Feature Review’. (Click here to see my article.) Tim and Judy Finn run such an exciting operation that is geared to make the finest wines possible, and their joie de vivre is one of the factors that inspires the team including viticulturist Richard Flatman and winemaker Todd Stevens to work with such enthusiasm. At the start of February, I attended the Nelson International Aromatics Symposium, and caught up with the Neudorf crew as they hosted the symposium delegates at a performance of the Wellington Ukulele Orchestra held on the Neudorf grounds. They were a very happy group of people, clearly enjoying the entertainment and life around them. Their lifestyle surely must be reflected in the wines they make. I suspect 2013 will be another excellent vintage for them. These new releases all show the finesse and elegance of style combined with superb drive on the palate that seems to be a Neudorf Vineyards trait. www.neudorf.co.nz
