Northburn Station ‘Bill’s Blend’ Pinot Noir 2009 and 2010

15-Jul-2013
Northburn Station on the eastern side of Lake Dunstan in Central Otago has a history stretching back to the 1850s. It has been owned by the Pinckney family since 1993, diversifying from grazing to grapegrowing in 1999, with their first crop in 2001. There are 17 ha of Pinot Noir, 4 ha of Riesling and 1 ha each of Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Owners Tom and Jan Pinckney now have Richard Broadhead, Jan’s brother as winemaker and Shane Livingston as viticulturist. There has been a considerable focus on the wine and hospitality side of the business of late, making Northburn a label to watch. www.northburn.co.nz
