Palliser Estate Chardonnay 2012

20-May-2013
The Chardonnay variety is one that Allan Jonson and his winemaking team at Palliser EState seem to have consistent success with. Under the ‘Pencarrow’ label, the wines offer value alongside considerable interest. But under the ‘Palliser Estate’ brand you can expect all the layers of interest and complexity seen any top level Chardonnay in New Zealand. As Martinborough sits geographically between Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough the wine style also sits between the two regions, with the richness and weight of the northerly district, and possessing the vibrancy and freshness of the wines from further south. 2012 was a cooler vintage producing wines of elegance and freshness. Here is my review of the 2012 Palliser Estate Chardonnay. www.palliser.co.nz
