Palliser Estate Martinborough Riesling 2015

21-Sep-2015
It is wonderful to see a return of interest to Riesling again. Wine lovers are celebrating the varied expressions of this most noble variety, and accept the styles from very dry to medium- sweet to very sweet and decadent. There are an increasing number of wines pushing the boundaries with lees and skin contact as well as the more accepted incorporation of botrytis, resulting in funkier bottlings. However, it is the pristine, pure, sleek, dry to off-dry Rieslings that are still most likely appreciated. Here, Allan Johnson’s Palliser Estate in Martinborough is a classic example. It’s the style made since it was established as a core variety in 1991. Here is my review of the new release 2015 Palliser Estate Riesling. www.palliser.co.nz
