Palliser Estate Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

12-Nov-2013
Palliser Estate is the undisputed leader with Sauvignon Blanc in the Wairarapa. The Martinborough label has won more awards for this variety than any other producer in the district, and the wines have been ranked with the best in the country. It’s the full flavours of ripe fruit with plenty of well-judged passionfruity thiol expression that is the feature and hallmark of the wine. However, winemaker Allan Johnson can craft an equally fine wine in challenging, cooler vintages such as 2012 (click here for my review). Allan admits he worked hard to get that wine right! The superb 2013 vintage sees a return to the ‘usual’ style, but Allan and his team have not stood still, incorporating greater tightness, finesse and texture into the wine, taking on board the beauty and elegance as seen in the 2012. Here is my review of the new 2013 release. www.palliser.co.nz
