Porters Pinot Gris 2012 & Pinot Noir 2011

01-Nov-2012
John and Annabel Porter quietly celebrated 20 years of winegrowing this year, this being no mean achievement in an industry requiring hard graft and considerable personal sacrifices. (Click here to read my report.) It's a milestone they can be proud of and it's all the more remarkable as Porters Pinot is one of the smallest commercial winegrowing operations in Martinborough, lacking the economies of scale that make survival, and indeed profits a little easier. However their success is in due partly to their distinctive, classical styles of wine and good quality that have created a loyal following. The Pinot Gris has settled to an expression reminiscent of elegant Alsace, and the Pinot Noir in the feminine Volnay or Chambolle-Musigny style. Here are my reviews of the new releases. www.porterspinot.co.nz
