River Farm 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris

24-Jun-2014
The ‘River Farm Wines’ brand has had a prominent place on the Marlborough wine scene for several years until the wine company and vineyards were wound down in 2012. The brand was recently purchased by the Jones Family and Starborough Farming Company in an astute move to capitalise on the reach of the name in the export market and to offer another tier of wines to the premium Starborough wines. James Jones is a thoughtful operator who has successfully grown his family’s grapegrowing business to a being a wine producer with very desirable and classical Marlborough expressions, and no doubt the River Farm wines will add to his progress. The wines utilise the company’s holdings in Rapaura and the Awatere Valley and are made by the highly regarded Dave Clouston, as are the Starborough wines. Here, I review the 2013 River Farm Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris releases. www.riverfarmwines.co.nz
