River Farm Sauvignon Blanc and Starborough Pinot Gris 2014

03-Dec-2014
The acquisition of the Marlborough ‘River Farm’ wine brand by the Jones family and the Starborough Farming Co. has been a boon for James Jones as it offers an established brand to work with and complement his premium ‘Starborough’ label. Besides the growth in volume and the fuller use of fruit from the company’s vineyards in the Rapaura and Awatere districts, the two brands will broaden the market base that is reached, especially with regard to exports and alternative distribution and retail channels. The initial 2013 River Farm releases, made by Dave Clouston proved successful (click here to see my reviews). Here, I review the new 2014 River Farm Sauvignon Blanc and 2014 Starborough ‘Family Estate’ Pinot Gris, brothers-in-arms in the Jones family portfolio.  www.riverfarmwines.co.nz  www.starborough.co.nz
