Rock Ferry Marlborough Whites and Central Otago Tempranillo

19-Dec-2013
It appears Rock Ferry is gearing up to make a unique and stronger impact on the market with their growing and interesting portfolio of quality wines from their Marlborough and Central Otago vineyards. Tom and Fiona Hutchinson established the business in 2005 with wines from ‘The Corners’ 13.5 ha vineyard in the Rapaura district while developing the 19 ha ‘Trig Hill’ vineyard in Bendigo, Central Otago. The purchase of the 9 5 ha ‘Orchard’ site in the Wairau has extended the company’s holdings, and wines, made by the very experienced Allan McWilliams have been flowing progressively since. They are clear-cut and refreshing expressions of region. Rock Ferry manages their vineyards organically and are BioGro certified. The company is a member of MANA, the Marlborough Natural Winegrowers group. Here, I review a selection of the Marlborough 2012 whites and 2010 Chardonnay, plus a 2010 Tempranillo from Central Otago. www.rockferry.co.nz
