Rockburn Aromatic, Serious White and Pinot Releases

29-Jan-2013

Rockburn started its life as a 3 ha' hobby' block vineyard planted by Richard Bunton at Lake Hayes in 1991. The venture grew substantially in 1992 with a 9 ha vineyard development in Gibbston followed by the establishment of the 33 ha ‘Parkburn' vineyard at Lake Dunstan in 1999. Known as ‘Hay's Lake', rebranding to ‘Rockburn' in 2002 saw the maturity of the operation and full bearing of the vineyards make their mark. With Malcolm Rees-Francis joining as winemaker in 2005, Rockburn has been consistently performing with top awards on the show circuit, and must be considered one of Central Otago's top wine producers. Here, I review a selection of new release aromatic, serious white, and new Pinot Noir wines. www.rockburn.co.nz
