Sacred Hill ‘HALO’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

21-May-2015
As Sacred Hill has grown, the definition of the different tiers for marketing has become crucial. At the top of the range remains the ‘Special Selection’ wines which can be counted as some of this country’s finest bottlings. The ‘HALO’ wines come under these, but sit above the newly introduced ‘Reserve’ range (click here to see my reviews of the first releases). The ever-popular ‘Orange Label’ range is the most accessible and is widely seen, especially in FMCG retail. Since the launch of the ‘HALO’ wines, their identity and place in the scheme of the Sacred Hill range has been rather fluid, but I sense ‘HALO’ has settled into the important premium position where they need to show more of the ‘Special Selection’ style and quality. Here, I review the new release 2014 ‘HALO’ Chardonnay. www.sacredhill.com
