Saint Clair 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Initial Release

25-Sep-2010
To see the new Sauvignons from the latest vintage from Saint Clair is important, as over the years, Saint Clair has set the standard, having won many awards for their wines from this variety. They have consistently done so, not only with the Wairau Reserve and Pioneer Block wines, but also with the regular ‘Premium' and value ‘Vicar's Choice' wines. The style is what the N.Z. punter enjoys, ripe, rich and passionfruity, and even ‘sweaty'. This is not necessarily the classical style of Sancerre and the traditional benchmarks of the Loire, nor what is enjoyed by the English market, so we are told. But they sure are popular here, among drinkers who want something more than green grass and minerally acid. The Saint Clair is broader, almost sweeter in fruit, if not residual sugar, and definitely a statement. www.saintclair.co.nz
