Schist Hills 2012 Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer

24-May-2013
The Schist Hills wines were born out of the downfall of the ambitious McArthur Ridge project in Alexandra, Central Otago. John and Christine Rasmussen have used their 2 ha ‘Home Block’ Pinot Noir as the basis for their new label. I reviewed the promising 2011 aromatic and 2010 Pinot Noir wines in June last year (click here to read). 2012 sees Schist Hills fully based in Alexandra, with Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer coming from the ‘Black Ridge’ vineyard. The Rasmussens have Kevin Clark and Fred Reinds of ‘Conroy Wines’ make the wines at the Black Ridge winery base. Here, I review the 2012 Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. www.schisthills.co.nz
