Serendipity Vineyard

29-May-2012
Serendipity Vineyard is the vinous adventure of Walter O'Neill and his wife Jo Lewis, planting a site that Walter had owned since the late 1980s. Jo has completed a diploma course in viticulture and has taken on the responsibility for marketing. The site on Ripponvale Road, behind Cromwell is 14 ha in size, of which 8 ha is planted, initially in 2003 to Pinot Noir and Riesling. The vineyard has been leased out under a 10 year management contract, and as the vines have matured, their own brand Serendipity Vineyard wines have been made. The highly respected Carol Bunn is the winemaker. The name ‘Serendipity' recalls the many serendipitous moments in the lives of Wal and Jo, as well as Carol, leading to the creation of the wines. www.serendipityvineyard.co.nz
