SOHO 2015 White Collection Sauvignon and Rosé, and Betty Riesling

16-Oct-2015
The new 2015 vintage Marlborough releases are looking extremely good. The lower yields have contributed to greater richness over the previous year, and the favourable growing conditions have provided wines with a very attractive fruit profile. I sense the wines will be very pleasurable from an early stage, and this has been supported by my tastings, including a selection of 2015 SOHO aromatics I tasted last month (click here to see my reviews). I review more 2015 new release Marlborough wines from SOHO, the ‘White Collection’ Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Rosé as well as the ‘Betty’ low-alcohol Riesling, the latter two wines now having won gold medals (the Riesling a trophy too!) at local wine shows. Dave Clouston was the winemaker for the ‘White Collection’ wines, and James Rowan, who is very successful with Riesling, made the ‘Betty’. He notes it is all about the balance of, and "using phenolics, acid and residual sugar”. www.sohowineco.com
