SOHO ‘McQueen’ Pinot Noir 2011

28-May-2013
There is no doubting the success of Central Otago as a Pinot Noir producing region, but the New Zealand wine industry will arguably see Marlborough become just as important. The smart wine producer will have a foot in each camp, and that’s exactly what Rachael Carter of SOHO has done. Under the top ‘Black Collection’ range, there is the ‘Havana’ Marlborough Pinot Noir (I recently reviewed the new 2012 wine – click here to see), made by Dave Clouston. As its stablemate is the ‘McQueen’ Central Otago Pinot Noir, made by Grant Taylor. Both wines offer different perspectives on Pinot Noir as a variety, and show regionality. Here I revisit the 2011 ‘McQueen’ Pinot Noir from Central Otago, which I reviewed in August last year (click here to see). The wine is now shaking off its primary fruitiness and has grown in texture, looking to age well. www.sohowineco.com
