Southdown Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

20-Oct-2014
Southdown Estate is the 46 ha single vineyard of Andrew and Elaine Sutherland who purchased the property on Fraters Road south of the Martinborough village in 1999. Originally a 190 ha deer farm, the first vines were established in 2004 with Nick Hoskins as the consultant viticulturist. Only Sauvignon Blanc is planted and the fruit has supplied a number of the district’s wineries since 2007. Following their success as contract growers, the Sutherlands have introduced their own label. Matt Griffith is the vineyard manager and the wine is made under contract at GisVin in Gisborne. Here, I review the 2014 Southdown Sauvignon Blanc. www.southdown.co.nz
