Spade Oak 2014 White and 2013 Red Releases

25-Feb-2015
The impending future appears especially favourable for Steve and Eileen Voysey of Spade Oak Vineyard in Gisborne. Steve and Eileen have put in the groundwork in establishing their business, based on their involvement in the New Zealand wine industry, with Steve as a winemaker for over two decades and Eileen as a grower for over 15 years. They’ve established Spade Oak as a brand of high quality and innovative wines primarily from their Gisborne vineyard, now supplemented with fruit from other regions. The placement of their wines in high profile restaurants and the broader market has grown significantly over the last few years. And wines from the excellent 2014 and 2013 vintages are now coming on stream. 2015 could quite possibly turn out to be a very pleasing year for them. Here, I review a selection of wines from 2014 and 2013 under the ‘Voysey’ and ‘Heart of Gold’ tiers that are just coming available on the market. www.spadeoak.co.nz
