Squawking Magpie ‘Two For Joy’ Rosé 2015

08-Oct-2015
The Rosé category has suddenly taken on significance in the New Zealand market. Consumers have discovered the pleasures of rosé wines with al fresco dining in the warmer months of the year, and winegrowers have risen to meet the demand, making wines of very good quality. The best rosé wines are made from grapes grown specifically for the style, in sites producing aromatic fruit that is picked early for freshness, rather than being made as a by-product of red wine vinification. The ‘Two For Joy’ Rosé 2015 is a first for Gavin Yortt of Squawking Magpie in Hawke’s Bay. The name is part of a rhyme that signifies that the sighting of two magpies will bring you joy. Gavin wanted the label to reflect the feeling of spring, brightness, freshness and something a bit playful. Here is my review of the wine. www.squawkingmagpie.co.nz
