Stanley Estates 2014 Whites and 2013 Pinot Noir

19-Feb-2015
Bridget Ennals and Steve Pellet describe their approach to life and their wine business as "a sense of adventure”. After a travelling expedition in a Land Rover they named ‘Stanley’, they established Stanley Estates in 2003 with a purchase of 11 ha of vineyard land in the Awatere Valley. They have since expanded this with more planting and a further purchase of land. With the classical Marlborough varieties of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, their sense of adventure has led them to plant Albarino and Lagrein. Steve tends the vineyards and the highly respected Eveline Fraser is the Stanley Estates winemaker. Here, I review the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, Albarino and Noble Harvest, plus 2013 ‘Block 8’ Pinot Noir, wines which no doubt extend Bridget and Steve’s desire for adventure. www.stanleyestates.co.nz
