Stingray Bay Nelson Pinot Noir 2009

13-Jun-2011
The tight market conditions have seen the prices of Pinot Noir wines drop considerably. Growers needing cashflow have had to cut margins and profits to survive. It is inevitable that a number of vineyard operations and wineries fold, despite the quality of the fruit and subsequent wine made. There is a benefit for the consumer in the short-term, as wines appear at very affordable prices. While seemingly disastrous for many individuals in the growing industry, ‘survival of the fittest' is a truism that will make a stronger base for the future. In the meantime, we should not pass by good, well-priced wine that distribution companies can access. www.federalgeo.co.nz
