Te Mania and Richmond Plains 2013 and 2012 Releases

10-Jan-2014
For over two decades, the organic Te Mania wines of Jon and Cheryl Harrey, and the organic and biodynamic Richmond Plains wines of Lars and Sam Jensen have continually progressed, bringing a increased awareness of the sustainable and environmentally sensitive movement in Nelson and New Zealand to a growing audience in the market. As their vineyards become even more balanced and winemaker Steve Gill accumulates more history with the vines and the fruit, we are seeing a sure and steady rise in quality over successive vintages. This is being matched by the marketing work keeping the wines fresh in the minds of the consumer. The clean labelling of both brands is representative of the wines, with the new ‘unfolding koru’ logo of Richmond Plains reflecting the realising of the potential of the land. Here, I review the new 2013 and 2012 releases, including a re-look at the Richmond Plains 'Blue Moon' Sauvignon Blanc 2012 with some time in bottle. www.temaniawines.co.nzwww.richmondplains.co.nz
