Te Whare Ra 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and ‘Toru’

15-Jan-2015
The Te Whare Ra Marlborough wines of Jason and Anna Flowerday have the traits of elegance, finesse and beauty, showing the refinement and detail that comes from wonderfully managed vineyards and sensitive winemaking. Another important part of their winegrowing philosophies is the organic and biodynamic regimes they adhere to in respect for the environment. This has led to the creation last year of their ‘Single Vineyard 5182’ labelling identifying wines from their BioGro certified organic home vineyard. These factors earned Jason and Anna my choice of Te Whare Ra as my ‘Winery of the Year’ for 2014 (click here to see my award article). I’ve seen the 2014 dry ‘D’ and medium ‘M’ Riesling releases recently (click here to see my reviews), and I now review the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and ‘Toru’ aromatic blend, the latter wine labelled ‘Single Vineyard 5182’. www.twrwines.co.nz
