Terrace Edge ‘Liquid Geography’ Riesling 2011

11-Jan-2012
The term ‘liquid geography' is clearly a clever expression of how the Riesling variety is terroir expressive. The Chapman family of Terrace Edge are very aware of how Waipara imbues Riesling wines with a distinctive exotic jasmine floral delicacy, and their new 2011 Riesling is labelled in recognition of this. The vintage has turned out to be another excellent one for Terrace Edge, the Chapmans being ultra-fastidious with their vineyard. The Riesling fruit was controlled for low yields and shows the benefit of some noble rot. Dom Maxwell of Greystone has continued the fine work of Belinda Gould in crafting the Terrace Edge wines for this vintage, and the result is yet another delicious wine. A touch of finesse, which seems to be Maxwell's signature combines well with the richness of fruit the Terrace Edge vineyard consistently provides. www.terraceedge.co.nz
