Terrace Edge Waipara Sauvignon Blanc 2012

04-Feb-2013

It may appear that Sauvignon Blanc is regarded as the workhorse variety even in the Waipara Valley, as Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris and even Syrah garner more attention, though there are more plantings of Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling combined in the district. At the Chapman family's ‘Terrace Edge' vineyard on Georges Road, Sauvignon Blanc has always been part of the mix, but the varietal has never been bottled under their own label, the fruit going under contract to other producers. (Click here to see my review of the Muddy Water Sauvignon Blanc 2012 which was made from their grapes.) 2012 is the first release of a Terrace Edge Sauvignon Blanc. Here is my review of it. www.terraceedge.co.nz
