The Edge 2013 Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir

27-Nov-2013
‘The Edge’ is the second label of the Escarpment Vineyard in Martinborough. The varieties made are Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, and designed to express fruit character and to be earlier drinking than the top Escarpment Vineyard wines. Larry McKenna bottles the Pinot Gris with a little residual sugar, and the Pinot Noir with limited oak contact, enabling them to be more approachable when young, and for the wines to be served as aperitifs. He sees the wines particularly suitable as glass-pours in the on-premise market. Here, I review the new release 2013 wines. www.escarpment.co.nz
