The Elder Pinot – Gris and Noir 2010

04-Aug-2011
These are the first releases of The Elder Pinot wines from Nigel Elder, Bridgit Taylor. and Mike and Margaret Hanson. The Hansons grow the grapes at their site at the southern end of the Te Muna Valley, on a protected terrace overlooking the Huangarua and Ruakokapatuna rivers on stony soils. The vineyard is planted 80% to Pinot Noir, the vines now 10-12 y.o. and the remainder to Pinot Gris 4-6 y.o. The vineyard supplied Martinborough Vineyard, where Nigel was the viticulturist. The wines are made by Paul Mason, winemaker at Martinborough Vineyard. The philosophy behind The Elder Pinot limited production, highest possible quality estate-only wines. www.theelderpinot.co.nz
